Dr. P. F. Daley
Research Geoscientist

Patrick F. Daley completed the two year Engineering Physics Program at Royal Roads Military College in 1969. Several years later, in the mid 1970s, he attended the University of Alberta where he obtained a B.Sc.in Mathematics, the equivalent of an honors B.Sc. in Theoretical Physics, M.Sc. in Theoretical Physics and a PhD. in Theoretical Seismology.

In 1979, he was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Post Graduate Fellowship, which was held for the maximum duration. As a M.Sc. and PhD. student, under the supervision of the late Professor Frantasek Hron, he became a contract employee of an international oil company, from 1976 to 2000. During the period of 1980 to 2000 he also undertook contract assignments in other areas.

A chance telephone call to Professor Larry Lines in 1999 resulted in his becoming employed by CREWES in a position he holds until the present. Pat is internationally known for his expertise in theoretical seismology, especially in anisotropic settings. Staff and students who are willing to work Pat's night owl hours benefit greatly from his expertise, advise and knowledge.
