David completed a course based M.Sc. in Geophysics at the University of Calgary with Dr. Robert Stewart in 2006 with a focus on the rock physics properties of shear waves and their potential role in converted-wave interpretation.
David recently retired from industry after thirty-four years working with Husky Energy as a geophysical technical interpreter, having worked projects across Western & Eastern Canada and globally.
He returned to the University of Calgary in 2020 as a volunteer with the CREWES Machine Learning initiative.
David began his Ph.D. in 2021 with a research focus on the positive role machine learning can have on geophysical interpretation.
He is presently the CSEG Assistant Education Director.
